  1. Are there any community benefits to hosting a solar project?

Yes, solar projects lower electricity bills, provide economic growth and increase energy independence for communities. The Weser solar project will generate 30 years of new steady tax revenue to fund schools and other community services while helping keep taxes low for homeowners.

Over its useful life, the project is anticipated to contribute more than $15 million in tax revenue to the applicable tax districts within the community.

  1. How many jobs will this project create? 

Solar projects create many full and part-time temporary jobs during the construction phase of the project. After commercial operation commences, solar projects require a relatively small number of highly skilled technicians to operate and maintain the facility.

The permanent employees of a solar project maintain, and service solar panels, underground electrical connections, substations, and other infrastructure associate with the safe and reliable operation of the project. In addition to the onsite employees, there may be managers or technicians who support the project from offsite locations. 

Weser Solar estimates approximately 150 temporary construction jobs to be created during by the construction of the project, and one full-time job to be created in connection with the operation of the facility.

Weser Solar intends to hold a job fair prior to the start of construction and use commercially reasonable efforts to utilize qualified contractors and vendors located in the County for the construction, operation and maintenance of the Project.

  1. Can solar save me money?

Yes! Nationwide, large utility companies are turning to solar in order to shift away from carbon resources and make renewable energy more accessible to customers. Solar relieves stress and strain on the electric grid and reduces costs for utilities. Those savings are then passed down to customers.
